Phil Armstrong
I am 61 years old, married with two Sons and born and bred in Luton and have been in the building industry all my working life. Starting off my career as a Carpenter & Joiner and worked my way up and through various roles in management all related to overseeing construction projects; everything from little coffee shops to hotel & leisure to sporting venues.
Back in June of 2023, I was approached by Ian Hobbs (having known him since 2001 and becoming firm friends) about PadelGalis and if I would be interested in helping him promote the sport and help develop the business. I was working as Development Director for a large multi-national construction company at the time and was extremely busy. However, I found this game called Padel intriguing and wanted to know more. So, in my spare time, I started to make enquiries with people and companies I knew to see if there was any interest, and, to my astonishment, there is an avalanche of interest; I found people were open to the idea of having Padel at their venues and the conversations excited me about it’s potential.
From there my involvement really started to take shape, and in September of 2023, I pretty much had a change of career and direction. It is so refreshing to be involved with something that is exciting and fun, and we are in at the right moment as it is growing so fast here in the UK.
This year is going to be massive for padel, and I have no doubt it is going to be an amazing year for me, my family and for PadelGalis!
